Banggai district is one of the second-level region in the province of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The capital of the district is located in Luwuk. The district has an area of 9, 672 km ² ( data of Law No. 51/ 1999) , and has a population of as many as 323 626 people ( 2010) .
Banggai district was once the former Kingdom of Banggai which covers an area of Banggai mainland and Banggai Islands. In 1999 Banggai expanded into Banggai and Banggai Islands.
